Here is a quick photo gallery update from Jean and Paul Masters, Well here we are again me and the ol man, same faces fishing the same places at DDI. The weather appears to be about a month behind this year, it has been exceptionally warm in October, to the point that we were sunbathing, but last year at this time it was freezing cold when I caught my two 50lb plus commons. Due to the temperatures the fish appear to have been holding up in the shallower water and many good fish have been caught in these area. But we still plugged away at the deeper end using our favourite bait and appeared to be struggling this October. We were given some Pro-Line bait form the boss of Pro-Line who was fishing the back lake with his colleague and appeared to be doing extremely well (love their logo -the company with balls). We decided to change to this bait and things picked up, the first fish was a 42lb15oz mirror, followed by four 30lb plus carp and the ol man hit the jackpot with personal best common of 50lb 9oz. Due to the weather conditions this year I think that late November, December and January will be very good winter fishing winter at DDI and all you carp anglers who do the colder month knowing that the big fish are on the feed for the winter. The regular carp anglers who fish this water will know that this water can produce big fish at any time of the of the year and just to enjoy the peace and tranquillity, away from the rat race for a week or so at a time is priceless. Once again we would like to thank Bernard and Odile for their hospitality and warm welcome.

Hi Bernard During the 5 days we were at the back lake lodge we caught a total of thirteen fish ranging from 16lb to 47lb.
On the first night we caught our first fish after only two hours of the rods being in the water. The holiday was already looking like a good one.
During the night we caught another two carp even though the temperature had droppped considerably.
The second night we started off with a 41lb common and ended with a 40lb mirror.
Our last night ended superbly with a 47lb mirror and a 43lb mirror.
The holiday was a huge success and we are looking forward to returning next year.
Regards

Thanks for the good weeks fishing with you in August. Dave Woollard and family fished the Cabins, whilst me Helen and the kids fished the main lodge. The weather was hot and sunny for the first 4 days and then changed to heavy rain and electrical storms to the end of the trip. But even though the weather was slightly against us we all still had a great time. I was pleased for Liam (Dave's eldest boy) who caught his PB of 34lbs and Sue (Dave's wife) who literally wrestled with a 30lb mirror. I had fish up to 35lb, Jack had 2 nice doubles out of the back lake, but it was Sam who had the best results (again!!!). He had some beautiful fish up to the mid thirty's with a perfect common thrown in. It was the 5th night in when he had his new PB. A 48lb 8oz common (Sam is wearing the Reebok tee shirt) He has had a good steady rise with his PB's. 20's and low 30's up to a 39lb 12oz, then a 42lb and now a 48lb. Hopefully on the next trip he will get his first 50.
Take care mate and I will see see you in 4 weeks.

Bonjour Bernard,
Thank you for another nice weekends fishing on the main lake, this being my second session of the year.
I fished my usual swim but this time brought stronger Catfish tackle. The change in tackle allowed me to land 5 Catfish up to 42lb. I attach a couple of photos of the bigger fish for the website.I also landed 6 carp (& lost 10+ in the snags!) with the biggest being a 34lb 4oz Mirror.I will be back again next year & will probably see you in June/July.
I have enclosed a few more pictures of some of the carp caught on my trip to DDI with Darren Knight at the beginning of June. As Darren has said we had a great trip with over a 1000lb of fish between us.
I look forward to coming back out in August with both mine and Darren's Families, to see if we can tempt a few more of the great carp you have from the main lake.
Also i must extend my thank's to Paul and Jean for the lovely food they did for us and not forgetting the odd stella aswell!!
Once again thanks for a great trip and see you in August.
Regards,
Dave Wollard

Bonjour Bernard,Thank you for the great weeks fishing at DDI and what a great week it was. We arrived just after the fish had finished spawning and although we didn't manage to catch any jaw dropping large carp we did manage to catch over a 1000lb of fish. I fished with my son Jack and good friend and soon to be a regular, David Woollard. Jack was only fishing for silver fish and so it was only me and Dave that fished for the biggies. A lot of PB's were broken and personal challenges were achieved on this trip. Dave broke his personal best for a mirror carp 3 times, finally settling on the largest carp of the week, a 41lb 10oz that came complete with spawning battle scars. He also had a PB cat of 31lb and PB grass of 35lb.8oz. I had 8 different 30lb plus fish (the largest at 37lb 2oz), a PB cat at 45lb and a PB grass at 35lb. We both took stalking fish, which I've never managed before. Dave setting up in a real poke hole in one of the channels, which resulted in a 26lb mirror. I took a 23lb common at the mouth of the channel in the back lake and a 26lb 4oz mirror out of the old stock pond. In total we had 1 double at 19lb, 17 x 20's, 13 x 30's, 1 x 40 and 5 cats up to 45lb. I would like to say a special thank you to wonder woman herself "Jean Masters" for the lovely BBQ food she prepared for us, but I must say I didn't think much of the ugly delivery driver, still he did keep me topped up with refreshments all week. Cheers Paul.
See you in August
Darren Knight.
MAY 2010
The carp have finished spawning and the fishing is good.
We arrived on monday, when we went to our swims we noticed
that the wind was blowing very hard toward us.
Mr bernard told us that if we wanted to move it was no problem,
but we wanted to give it a try first.
The next day we decided to move to the place that mr bernard told us.
When we placed our rods in the water we knew that we where on a good spot.
Our advice if mr bernard says move do so you will catch more fish. Here are some pictures of some of our carp.
Thanks to mr bernard and we will see you soon.

We arrived at DDI around 11.30am and went straight into swims 19 and 20. The sky was overcast with brief spells of sunshine and a strong wind blowing directly into our face. We both decided the fairest way to choose which swims we would fish would be by the flick of a coin, Heads swim 19, tails swim 20. On the first flick of the coins the swims were decided and I was fishing swim 20.
Whilst setting up we noticed that several fish were crashing just out in front of us at a range of only 20 yards in open water so we placed baits close in. With all six baits at close range we awaited the first bite and at around 3.30 pm it came with a screaming take on my left hand rod. I very quickly realised I had a Cat on and after a good fight the first fish was on the bank weighing in at 38lb 8oz, as I don’t fish for Cats this was a new Personal Best Cat! Our fishing trip was underway!
Realising the fight with Cat may have spooked the spot at close range I moved the rod further out towards the new snag. By this stage the wind had picked up making the swim very uncomfortable.
By 6.30pm we had landed three more fish over the twenty pound mark, a common and a mirror at both at 26lb and a slightly bigger mirror of 28lb, all from the area at close range.
Tuesday 13th April 2010
At around 10.30am the following morning I noticed the Bobbin on my left hand rod drop slightly, as I watched closely the Bobbin suddenly shot back up and struck the bite alarm with force. I struck into what I soon realised was a good size Carp. After another good fight, with the Carp doing it’s best to avoid the bank, we had the Carp which had revealed itself to be a mirror, in the net. With the fish in the weigh sling and scales ready, I watched as the needle spun round to the 40lb mark. We weighed the fish again using the digital scaled and I was delighted to see 39lb 12oz appear on the screen. My second personal best of the session, beating my Previous overall personal best which is an English fish by 6lb and we had been on the lake for less than 24 hours, I was over the moon!
Wednesday 14th April 2010
After spending the rest of Tuesday without a fish we awoke to a brighter morning and the wind had become less fierce. We moved our hook baits to locations further out where the water was calmer sheltered from the wind and in direct sunlight, hoping the Carp would be holding up there. I placed my left hand rod past the new snag just in front of the bush.
Thirty minutes later, the Bobbin on my left hand rod dropped very slowly to within an inch of the ground, I stood over the rods watching for several minutes and just as I was about to sit back down the Bobbin hit the buzzers and the rod tip bent left. I picked up the rod and hit into what I thought could only be a snagged fish. Keeping the line tight I felt a slight movement and the line suddenly shot right nearly bending the rod in two and shredding line from the spool very quickly. I finally locked up on the fish and began to gain line very slowly before what felt like the hook link being anchored to the lake bed. This continued as I played the fish toward the bank gradually bringing the fish to the surface around ten feet from the net I saw the back of a big Common! I played the fish in and my Brother landed it with ease. Neither of us had any idea of what exactly we were about to see! My Brother split down the net as always and lifted from the water by far the biggest fish I had seen on the bank, I realised I had broken my personal best again, but by how much?
Scales ready I lowered the Common onto and watched in amazement as the needle spun round past the 50lb mark to 55lb 12oz. For the second time I had smashed my personal best, I had caught the Carp of a lifetime, Unbelievable!!
As you can Imagine, I spent the next few hours celebrating!
At around midnight, with the bait back on the same spot with my left hand rod I had another take and banked my 5th fish of the session a 42lb 2oz Mirror, another new personal best. Unfortunately my camera failed to take a good picture!
The rest of the session produced three more fish between midnight on Thursday and the early hours of Friday morning, two more for my brother including a Personal best common of 33lb, Well done Rob!!, a baby Cat and another Cat of 34lb for myself.
So to sum up my session, 4 days fishing at DDI resulted in a Personal best Cat of 38lb 8oz, personal best mirror of 39lb 11oz which I broke again with a 42lb 2oz mirror, a personal best common of 55lb 12oz and a personal best common of 33lb for Rob. What a session!!!
I would like to thank Bernard and Odile for their hospitality and also thanks to Graham and Dave fishing swim 14 for the company during their daily visits, Great Blokes!
